K-Netz Want Song Ji Hyo Out of Running Man

The public opinion surrounding actress Song Ji Hyo is raising concerns. Criticisms have emerged suggesting that her presence on the long-running SBS variety show ‘Running Man‘ is virtually indistinguishable from being merely a decorative item.

Since being part of ‘Running Man’ since July 2010, Song Ji Hyo has held her position for an impressive 13 years. But her presence was on the June 25th episode, Song Ji Hyo participated in solving quizzes, tasting Kongguks, and engaging in a warm-up basketball match with the other members.

However, her performance in that episode was underwhelming, according to viewers. Apart from the fact that the basketball match was primarily focused on male members, Song Ji Hyo’s contribution seemed inferior compared to fellow female member Jeon So-min.

In response to this, online communities have been filled with complaints from viewers, expressing sentiments such as “Isn’t she practically a decorative item?” “Practically non-existent” “Regardless of editing, her lack of enthusiasm warrants her departure,” and more. The controversy surrounding Song Ji Hyo’s attitude on the show is relatively not new. It has been consistently raised over time. Issues such as her lack of enthusiasm during the show and her significantly lower presence compared to other members have been brought up.

As a result, demands for her departure continue to be voiced. Some viewers evaluate Song Ji Hyo as essentially a “decorative item” on ‘Running Man,’ stating that “If she doesn’t want to do variety shows, she should leave voluntarily,” “She might find it difficult to leave due to overseas fans, but she doesn’t seem motivated for the show,” “A reduction in appearance fees seems necessary,” and so on.

Serious advice from some fans has also emerged. One online user, claiming to be a long-time fan of Song Ji Hyo, stated, “I don’t mind seeing actress Song Ji Hyo on variety shows, but it’s evident that her extreme shyness and reluctance to take the initiative are apparent on the show.” They further emphasized, “During the ‘love line’ with Gary, he covered up her shortcomings, but after Gary’s departure, she lacked a significant role in variety shows.” The user concluded, “While it’s true that she needs to find her concept and grasp the essence of variety shows before receiving more screen time if it were a different program, she would have already left.”

The online user also remarked, “Song Ji Hyo must be aware of this, but she can’t leave because the individual members contribute to the identity and character of ‘Running Man’ as a whole.” They emphasized, “The production team should make efforts to establish a concept for Song Ji-hyo rather than treating her as a mere decorative item.”

The article discusses the heated debate surrounding actress Song Ji Hyo and her presence on the show ‘Running Man,’ with conflicting opinions from viewers. However, it is widely agreed that Song Ji Hyo lacks a distinctive presence on the show.

Currently, Song Ji Hyo is facing difficulties due to an unresolved financial dispute with her former agency, Uzu Rocks. In April, Song Ji Hyo terminated her contract with Uzu Rocks, and in May, she filed a complaint against the CEO of Uzu Rocks, Mr. A, accusing him of embezzlement. Throughout this process, Song Ji Hyo personally covered the wages and other expenses of her staff, earning praise from the public.

However, it should be noted that her appearance fee for ‘Running Man’ is directly paid to her and unrelated to the current situation. Some viewers have raised the point of reducing her appearance fee, which is estimated to be around 4 to 5 million won per episode.
